Carson City Animal Services is run by the Nevada Humane Society under contract. It serves 54,000 people. In 2016, it reported a live release rate of 94% for cats and 95% for dogs. It does not report or does not take in rabbits or other companion animals. ​For more information, click here.
washoe county
Washoe County and the cities of Reno and Sparks are served by two shelters: strays go to Washoe County Regional Animal Services and animals surrendered by their families go to the Nevada Humane Society under contract. They share a building and jointly serve 435,000 people. In 2016, the Nevada Humane Society reported a live release rate of 96% for dogs and 92% for cats. NHS takes in rabbits and other animals, but did not report outcomes. For more information, click here and here.
